It’s that time of year again, when the hospitality industry and foodies across Melbourne and regional Victoria await the results of The Age Good Food Guide 2017 awards with bated breath.

Carlton’s Epocha restaurant was once again awarded one hat, though this time around owners Angie Giannakodakis and Guy Holder had an extra reason to celebrate, sharing in their achievement with their sister restaurant Elyros.

Jointly owned with Disa Dimitrakakis, the Cretan restaurant in Camberwell was awarded one hat for the first time since opening its doors in 2014.

The team took to social media to express their gratitude for the recognition.

“Thank you Good Food Guide, thank you patrons, thank you to our suppliers. Thank you to our Chef Jarrod Smithakis and his team this year, the creative powerhouse you are, thank FoH (front of house) for your never ending passion. Matthew thank you! Fiona thank you, Max, Katerina, Nick, Allen, Evie, Claire and thank you Louisa,” they shared on the Elyros Facebook.

“We are humbled and feel very blessed to have our people around us with such a crazy concept of Cretan cuisine in Camberwell. Thank you Disa, Angie and Guy. You just never know what might happen. One Hat for Elyros and One Hat for Epocha. Thank you all.”

Epocha shared the sentiment, stating “The only thing more delightful than receiving a Hat at The Age Good Food Guide Awards, is sharing the equal recognition with our much loved sister restaurant Elyros Restaurant. A proud and humbled family today. As always we are so grateful for the continued support. Congratulations to all.”
