Australian Greens candidate for Bendigo Kymberlie Dimozantos said to Neos Kosmos that the Greens’ policies on education, healthcare and renewable energy would benefit all of the community, including the Greek community.

Access to a variety of languages within our education system is vital, according to Ms Dimozantos, who said her party will expand and increase student opportunities.

“The Greens are supportive of a variety of languages being taught in school curricula and that includes Greek,” she said, adding “we believe multiculturalism is so important and is what makes Australia such a diverse and vibrant place to live.”

Ms Dimozantos said the Greens have many policies that will benefit the Greek community, identifying their health policy as one of the most vital.

”We think health is about keeping people out of hospitals which is why our policies focus on preventive health and education,” she said. Ms Dimozantos also said the Greens are the only party to offer a dental scheme which would provide free dental care to all Australians.

Funding for all levels of public schools would also be increased under a Greens government, Ms Dimozantos said.

“We believe that education should be based on merit and opportunity, not affordability. And we would also provide greater help and support for University students and youth by increasing the youth allowance by $115 per fortnight,” she said.

Ms Dimozantos said renewable energy is high on the priority list for the Greens.

“We want to see investment in renewable energies which would mean huge job creation and opportunities for all Australians,” she said. “As a mother of a six year old boy I know how important it is investing in the future for the coming generations. That means introducing a tax on carbon and redirecting funds into the renewable industry,” she said.
