Martha Mavrommati, Cyprus’ High Commissioner in Australia, paid a visit to the Greek Centre on Lonsdale Street on Wednesday 3 January. Accompanied by the representative of the Cypriot Community of Apostolos Andreas, Marina Theodorou, the High Commissioner met with the President of the Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria (GCMV), Bill Papastergiadis, Vice President Theo Markos, General Secretary Kostas Markos and board member Dimitris Bosinakis.

Ms Mavrommati and the leaders of the GCMV discussed the latest updates on the Cypriot issue, as well as the upcoming Presidential elections in Cyprus, scheduled to take place on 28 January (with a second round possibly happening on 4 February).

From their part, the President and board members of the GCMV offered a detailed account of the organisations activities and reaffirmed that the Greek Centre is always open to host events organised by the High Commission and Cypriot Community Associations.
