The new Ambassador for Greece in Australia, Alexios Christopoulos, has concluded his first official visit to Brisbane.

After flying into the Gold Coast and meeting with Honorary Consul of Greece in Queensland, James Raptis OBE and his wife, Mr Christopoulos attended the Divine liturgy at the Greek Orthodox Church of St Anna.

In Brisbane Mr Christopoulos met with the Vicar-General for Queensland of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, Rev. Father Dimitri Tsakas and with the Greek Community leaders of the various Parish-Communities of Brisbane.

During his week long visit, the Ambassador met with Govenor of Queensland, Penelope Wensley AO, Premier of Queensland, Anna Bligh MP, and various Ministers of the Queensland Parliament and officials from the Brisbane City Council.

Mr Christopoulos also visited the two main universities in Brisbane and was a keynote speaker at the inaugural Greek History Conference held at the University of Queensland.

The visit concluded two weeks ago when Mr Christopoulos returned to Canberra.
