Tourist visits to Greece’s ancient sites and museums fell sharply in 2008 compared to 2007, according to the Greek National Statistics office.
The number of visitors to Greece’s museums fell by 18.7 percent, while the number of people who saw the country’s ancient archaeological sites dropped by up to 30 percent.
The Acropolis in Athens was the most popular tourist site in 2008.
The decrease in visitors is likely to continue, as experts predict the country should expect the biggest drop in the flow of tourists for the last 30 years.
