Panionios scored a second victory over Vouliagmeni in the all-Greek tie for water polo’s LEN Trophy on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals of Europe’s second-tier club competition.

Having won 9-7 in the first leg, held at Piraeus a month earlier, Panionios hosted Vouliagmeni at Nea Smyrni and triumphed with the same score in the return game.

The hosts were the better side throughout the game, led 4-3 at half-time and were never really threatened to lose the game, let alone the ticket to the tournament’s last eight.

As for Olympiakos, the Greek champions suffered their third loss in as many games for the Euroleague, going down 9-7 to Partizan Belgrade at home.
