Three teachers at a cramming school could face charges in relation to alleged cheating at university entrance exams earlier this month.

The electronic crimes squad has delivered its findings to first instance prosecutor Eleni Raikou after a student at a senior high school in the Galatsi district of Athens was caught receiving exam answers on his mobile phone.

The text message came from a cramming school where the student had been taking extra lessons. According to sources, police have now discovered that three teachers sent such messages to at least 18 pupils. Competition for university places has been especially strong this year as a lack of funding means that fewer spots will be available.
