The Multicultural Women’s Sport Leader Program is a comprehensive training program for women who would like to become more involved in local sporting clubs or community organisations which focus on sport and physical activity.

The program aims to develop and extend the skills, knowledge and networks of women in leadership and decision making roles. Liz Daykin, Sport and Recreation Regional Manager at the New South Wales Office of Communities told Neos Kosmos that “the Multicultural Women’s Sport Leaders Program is designed to give participants the skills and confidence to become leaders in community sport and recreation”.

“It’s also a great opportunity for participants to build a support network with like-minded women in the community sports sector. Having more multicultural women in decision-making roles will help make sport more attractive and accessible to people from diverse backgrounds, especially women and girls.”

Applications are open to women who are: of a multicultural background; aged 18 years and over on 22 July, 2011; permanent residents of New South Wales; and currently involved as a volunteer or paid employee in a sporting club or community organisation which has a focus on sport, recreation and physical activity.

The program is not pass or fail and there are no assessments but to complete the program you need to attend all sessions. It will be held on Friday 22, Saturday 23 and Saturday 30 July at Sydney Olympic Park. The program is free but places are limited and applications close on 6 July.
