All metro stations in Athens, as well as some bus stops, will have wireless internet access by next year, the government and the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) agreed on Monday.

According to the plan, Wi-Fi will be installed in all the metro stations, at bus stops and at squares. Wireless internet access will also be available at Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) stations. The program will begin at Panepistimio metro station in central Athens, where Wi-Fi will be set up within the next three months.

The bus stop outside the station, which is located next to Athens University, will also have wireless internet. Authorities said the initiative would give passengers greater access to information and would be a useful tool of communication in case of emergency.
