The bid to return the Parthenon Marbles by London’s 2012 Olympic Games will go up a notch when Greece’s Minister for Culture and Tourism Pavlos Geroulanos visits the UK capital this week. Geroulanos will meet with members of the British Committee for the Restitution of the Parthenon Marbles in London to discuss the return.

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George, who is outspoken when it comes to the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece, will also attend this meeting. The British group – who began after they were inspired by Melina Mercouri’s passionate appeal to return the marbles to Athens in 1982 – have begun a campaign for the marbles to be returned to their rightful home in Athens during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
