Award-winning director Alexander Payne and Director of photography Phedon Papamichael, both Greek Americans, have joined forces again, this time in The Descendants starring George Clooney.
The critically acclaimed drama opened the 2011 Thessaloniki International Film Festival last week to positive reviews. The last time the duo worked together was in Sideways, which earned Payne an Academy Award for best writing and adapted screenplay, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe. Papamichael is also known for his work as the cinematographer and director of photography of Walk the Line and The Pursuit of Happyness.
A lot of excitement was generated when Payne announced that he was currently working on a third project, as reported by Ekathimerini. Papamichael will also be filming this project. The Descendants is due for release in Australia on 12 January 2012.
