Steve Karakitsos has been awarded the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (HACCI) Chris Saristavros Young Achievement Award, presented by Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Eleni Lianidou at the HACCI Gala Ball at Park Hyatt, Melbourne.

Founder and president of the South Eastern Centre for Sustainability, Karakitsos has been instrumental in working to establish a community environmental education centre servicing Melbourne’s outer south east.

“This couldn’t have happened without the incredible work of our steering and executive committees and the kind support of our business and professional supporters,” said Karakitsos after receiving the award.
Another local, Helen Constas received HACCI’s Community Contribution Award for her work as CEO of the Peninsula Community Legal Service.

Other awards were presented to the Honourable Justice Emilios Kyrou of the Supreme Court of Victoria, Award for Professional Excellence; businessman Nicholas Moraitis, recipient of the Spiros Stamoulis Lifetime Achievement Award; and Paul Constantinou, founder of Quest Serviced Apartments, Business Excellence Award. All award recipients were formally acknowledged by Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu and the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Robert Doyle.
