Renault Formula 1 driver, Robert Kubica has left hospital after three months after an off-season rally accident almost cost him his hand and ruled him out of the current F1 season.
The Polish driver was in a serious condition and could not be moved so doctors had him stay at the Santa Corona hospital in the town of Pietra Ligure since the crash in February.
He is now well enough to travel to his home in Monaco for rehabilitation. Kubica was injured after he crashed at high speed during the Ronde di Andora rally in northern Italy in February which left him with serious arm and leg injuries requiring a extensive surgery and narrowly escaping having his right arm and hand amputated.
Kubica , who is making good but slow progress is not expected to return to the track for another six months, but he had this to say on the Renault F1 website recently: “I am starting to feel a lot better now. My recovery is moving in the right direction: my strength and weight are increasing day by day and as a result I will leave the Santa Corona hospital very soon for Monaco.”
