The cool Greek island-inspired pub known for its Greek food, wine, music and the occasional ‘Greek night’ is now taking it a step further by sending a lucky winner all the way to the Aegean.
Just by making a booking online will give you a chance to win the ultimate European summer escape in 2026, and it’s on the Golden Fleece Hotel or as they like to say “Fleece to Greece”.
The prize includes return international economy flights from Melbourne to Greece, along with seven nights’ accommodation for two guests. Valued at $5,000, the holiday will be tailored to suit the winner’s dream itinerary.
Entering the competition is easy. Simply book a table online through OpenTable between July 4 and October 4 2025 and dine at the Golden Fleece Hotel. Each booking becomes a boarding pass, your entry then goes into the draw for a Greek getaway. While walk-ins are always welcome, only an online bookings count for the competition.
Isaac Constantine from the Golden Fleece Hotel said the place “began as a modern Mediterranean pub”.
“It was really our community who helped shape what Golden Fleece became – the strongest response was always to the Greek dishes, and the Grecian aesthetic.”
Constantine told Neos Kosmos that “people told us it reminded them of home, or of their holidays and their feedback lit the path for us”.
He added that Alex Moulieris and Nicolas Tassigiannakis two of the owners, have a “deep vein of Greek heritage”.
“It felt natural to lean fully into our Grecian roots, Golden Fleece today is as much a reflection of our guests, as it is of us.
“It is a place where food, culture, and community come together to create a little slice of Greece in South Melbourne.”
Constantine said that most of their guests associate Golden Fleece with Santorini particularly their Rooftop terrace. And, he said that’s where the Golden Fleece’s two main slogans where born; “Santorini, South Melbourne” and “Your holiday at home awaits”.
He went on to say that running the comp for a Greece 2026 getaway came “very naturally.” One does not have to go through the ardors of Jason to get to this Golden Fleece.
“We transport our guests to a Greek summer aesthetically, culturally, and through our cuisine, every week. So we said, ‘Let’s do that physically.’
“We focused on all our guests dining with us during the winter period, helping them stave off the cold’s bite and assuage their Greek-summer FOMO,” Constantine said.
The winner will be announced on October 5, 2025.
To claim the prize, the winner must present their boarding pass, with the flight seat number acting as their lottery number. Full details of flights and accommodation will be shared on the Golden Fleece Hotel’s website and social channels.
The competition is open to Australian residents aged 18 and over.
