The contribution of the Greek language, particularly to the languages of Europe, and through them to the languages of the modern world, constitutes a phenomenon of special significance.

Its diachronic contribution to the world’s linguistics inspired Professor George Kanarakis, from Charles Sturt University, to write a book.

Mr Kanarakis has also aimed at providing a cohesive account of the linguistic situation which has resulted from the interlanguage contact between Greek and Australian English.

The Greek-Australian Cultural League of Melbourne, the Association of Hellenic Writers of Australia and the Panarcadian Association of Melbourne and Victoria O Kolokotronis are holding a book launch and a lecture.

The book will be launched by neohellenist Mr Kyriakos Amanatides at the Panarcadian Association Building (second floor, 570 Victoria St, North Melbourne), this Sunday 19 April 2015 at 3.00 pm.

Mr Dimitri Alexopoulos, president of the Panarcadian Association, will perform the MC duties for the night, while the Ambassador of Greece in Australia Mr Haris Dafaranos will kindly contribute a message to be presented at the book launch.

The presentation is open to all.
