A competition entitled ‘The Day They Came Home’ is seeking out creative minds to create a fictional narrative of the reunification of the Parthenon Marbles with Greece.

The competition is asking writers to describe how they imagine the event would occur, touching on factors like Greek nationalism, diplomacy with the British, how the marbles would be returned, and how Hellenism would be affected.

Writers are encouraged to narrate the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece as an inevitability.

To be held in 2016, ‘The Day They Came Home’ is free to enter, all works must be submitted in English – with a maximum word count of 2,500 – and papers will be judged by an international panel.

Further information can be found on the competition’s website at www.thedaytheycamehome.net, or by visiting its Facebook or Twitter pages, www.facebook.com/TheDayTheyCameHome, www.twitter.com/TDTCHAus.
Prize money is yet to be confirmed, with the team at the ‘The Day They Came Home’ seeking out crowdfunding to help administer the contest.
