One of Channel Nine’s favourite reality TV series The Block is set to return and this time around there will be a Greek Australian competitor.

Currently in production, Tim, 40 and wife Anastasia, 38 will be competing against six other couples in the competitive renovation and design show.

The South Australian couple, who met on a dating site, instantly knew they were meant to be, marrying after just 12 months in an exotic ceremony in Fiji.

Once married, the couple each decided to sell their respective homes and buy a ‘renovator’s dream’.

The ambitious couple, neither of whom work in renovation or design, set out to transform a derelict 1930s bungalow into a fresh and beautifully renovated home in a short eight months.

The decision to try out for The Block was motivated by their neighbours, who were thoroughly impressed with the transformation of the couple’s purchase in record time.

According to her husband, who works as a general manager, Anastasia, an operations manager, takes a methodical approach when renovating, which could be the key in turning the competition in their favour.

“Anastasia is driven and loves process, always making sure the correct steps are in place. She is willing to try almost anything and will research as much as possible,” he said.

Regarding the couples’ aesthetic, viewers can expect warm, calming and neutral tones, with a touch of extravagance where appropriate, defining their style as contemporary with “a touch of rustic and shabby chic”.

If the couple is successful in making it through to the main round, they have plans for any prize money that comes their way.

The dream is to have funds to finish off their renovation and to start on a new project, this time restoring a vintage car that the couple has already purchased.

The show, which first debuted in 2003, now in its tenth series, will be located just off Toorak Road in Melbourne’s glamorous suburb of South Yarra.

The teams will be faced with the first round referred to as ‘Elimination Central’, where six teams will be reduced to three in a series of challenges.

Following this, the remaining three teams will be led around the corner to the site of the actual block – a 1970s solid brick box of a building, waiting to be transformed.

Named The Block Triple Threat, the teams will soon discover that the first round of elimination is not the only worry.

Next year’s series will see the new teams go up against already seasoned and experienced teams from past series.

With some teams having experience on their side, where others make up for experience with creative thinking and ideas, which team will ultimately have what it takes?

The Block Triple Threat is set to be released in early 2015 on the Nine Network.
