DEMETRIA SISTER CITIES GLENDI
The Thessaloniki Association ‘The White Tower’ together with the Pan Macedonian Association of Melbourne and Victoria are hosting the 35th anniversary of the Demetria Sister Cities event. A glendi will take place in Preston with delicious food and drinks, and entertainment by band Melvourniotes. The celebrations will continue the following day at the Queen Victoria Market.

80TH ANNIVERSARY GALA
The Lemnian Community of Victoria is presenting its 80th Anniversary Gala this month. Formed in 1939 by Dimitrios Katakouzinos Blablanis, the community was created so that those like himself who left their island for new beginnings in Australia, could meet up regularly and keep the legacy of their fathers and forefathers alive for their children and future generations – and it has achieved exactly that. In celebration of the milestone, on the night, present members will formally pay tribute to past presidents. Attendees will be entertained by seven-piece band, Melodia, who will be performing live on the night.

PITA FESTIVAL OF EPIRUS
Go along and enjoy some of the best pites in Melbourne, made from recipes passed down generations, and handmade by local Epirotes. Organised by the Panepirotic Union of Melbourne and Victoria Inc., along with the delicious aromas of pita, the atmosphere will come alive with traditional music by Epirotic Compania and DJ Joe Pappas. As well as celebrating Epirus and its offerings, the event is also a chance for the community organisation to give back, with all monies raised set to be donated to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness Centre – Austin Health.
