The impact on migrant communities, from the cold streets of Stockholm to the countless undocumented workers in Texas.

ONLINE COMEDY SHOW: I AM NOT MAKING YOUR LAUGH SANDWICH
The No I am not washing your dirty plate arts festival presents comedy event I am not making your laugh sandwich. The event will feature a range of knock out comedians and aims to bring together artists and thinkers, with a focus on the Cypriot, Greek, Italian and other non-Anglo European female and non-binary diaspora, and their supporters and allies.

FREE ONLINE WEBINAR ARCHAEOLOGY IN SPARTA
The Pallaconian Brotherhood continues their series of lectures commemorating the 2500th Anniversary of the Battle of Thermopylae. This lecture presented by Daphne Martin archaeological sites in Sparta and around Lakonia, and also the ongoing work for their integration into daily life, as cultural sites to be visited, to learn from, and to be inspired by, for visitors and locals alike.

BRIMBANK WRITERS AND READERS FESTIVAL ONLINE
This year Brimbank Council is bringing the festival to you online, over three weekends in September so get ready and book yourself in. Due to COVID-19, the Festival is taking place online with a series of videos featuring six authors in intimate conversation. All conversations were filmed at the Bowery Theatre, videos produced by Cinespace Inc, and will premiere on Brimbank Libraries YouTube Channel. The festival will cover themes such as stories of strength and resilience, memoirs and families & crime.

NATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH MONTH LAUNCH
National Mental Health Month is an initiative of the Mental Health Foundation Australia to advocate for and raise awareness of Australian mental health. At this launch, presentations will be made to the winners of the Schools’ Creative Writing Competition and Art Competition 2020. There will also be an opportunity for you to sit in on formal addresses, on the Victorian government’s plans for mental health into the future and the current Royal Commission into mental health.

ONLINE SETTLEMENT SERVICES FOR NEWLY ARRIVED PEOPLE
In an effort to support the newly-arrived immigrants settle and find job opportunities in their new home, Pronia is continuing the project “Settlement Services for Newly-Arrived People” online, with morning and afternoon English language workshops.

Titled In Isolation, the exhibition presents the work of 15 past Antipodean Palette participants during this time of physical distancing and self-isolation…Those wishing to view works created by the artists can now do so through the online gallery, hosted through Instagram, Facebook and the GACL’s website. The Greek Club in conjunction with the Greek Film Society of Brisbane and New Farm Six Cinemas is presenting a new Australian film by Greek-Australian filmmaker Alkinos Tsilimidos. When a waitress is substituted for a belly dancer in a Greek restaurant, chaos and mayhem ensue before the owner is forced to change his old ways to prevent a major catastrophe. Bookings are essential and must be done online.
