The No I am not washing your dirty plate Art Festival is back for a third event on 14 November, this time as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival’s digital program featuring artists from all over the world.

Dirty Plate Founder Koraly Dimitriadis is setting out to amplify voices of female and non-binary ethnic European artists in the diaspora and their connections to their homelands.

“We need role models now more than ever. We are also seen by the mainstream anglo-dominated arts culture as somehow irrelevant or having ‘had our day’ because of the comedy stereotypes of the 90s, most of which were written by men. Our women have not had our time,” Ms Dimitriadis said.

The event will give a platform to 19 artists, performing music, poetry sketch comedy and everything in between.

This project is amplified by Melbourne Fringe through the Cash for Creatives program, helping artists get back on their feet after a major shutdown of the arts industry due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I wanted to establish a place where we could all come together…I travel a lot as part of my poetry and I can’t now because of COVID. Our events really do bring women together as a very unified spirit,” Ms Dimitriadis said.

You can catch the festival on Zoom which will also include a limited open mic section, but make sure to book your tickets soon as there are limited spots available.

The event will be recorded and replayed at various other times during Melbourne Fringe Festival.
