Monash City Council welcomes the community to the newly transformed Oakleigh Recreation Centre at the Open Day on Saturday, 23 January.

This COVID Safe Community Open Day is free of charge and will give existing members, and anyone else interested, the opportunity to check out the centre and its fantastic facilities following a major $25 million revamp.

The upgraded facilities include a larger gym, five new indoor multi-purpose sports courts, pilates and yoga rooms, a cycle room, a state-level gymnastics facility for the Waverley Gymnastics Centre and new bathroom facilities.

Mayor Brian Little shared his enthusiasm for the reopening and noted the council is “very pleased to be providing this important facility to the local community” to meet the growing need for local and regional sports.

“I’m not only excited as a Councillor to have this fantastic facility in Monash but I am also a member of Oakleigh Recreation Centre and have been eagerly awaiting its reopening,” Cr Little said.

There will be three sessions throughout the day to take a look at the facility and enjoy some free
activities:
Session 1: 9am – 12pm
Session 2: 12pm – 3pm
Session 3: 3pm – 6pm

Activities include face painting and story time for children, live performances, a jumping castle and rock climbing wall, along with informative and interactive stalls and more.
