A recent YouGov Galaxy survey of Australian men showed that more than 40 per cent of dads just want to hear “I love you” as the number one gift they can get on Father’s Day on 1 September. And what better way to show this than by spending some quality time time with dad? We’ve put together a list of places where you can do this.
1. JOY FLIGHT
Treat your father to a 15-minute helicopter joy flight over the the coastal areas of Melbourne. Fathers are also traditionally the protectors of their families, and the Hellenic RSL pays homage to this role with a Father’s Day luncheon at the Hellenic Sub Branch at 1pm on Sunday, 8 September. The event is being held at 14A Ferrars Place, South Melbourne, and not only offers great home-made tucker but gives dad the opportunity to meet with some interesting people to talk about politics, history and hear a war story or two. 3. LEMNIAN FATHER’S DAY
The Lemnian Father’s Day event was supposed to have taken place at the Lexi Meze Bar and Tavern, however due to the venue’s closure it will now be held at the Braeside Club Rooms. 4. ALPHA AND OMEGA
Alpha and Omega is organising a Father’s Day Dinner Night from 5.30pm to 11pm at 7a Strathmerton Street, Reservoir, on 7 September. There will be music by Nikos Nikolaou, finger food and dips. Admission is at $25 per person, and $15 for children and fathers who are members.

5. BLU OLIVE
A special Father’s Day menu brings a selection of the restaurant’s favourite dishes passed down from a generation of fathers to grandfathers on 1 September. The banquet at $65 per person brings a wide selection of seafood platters and meat platters bound to tantalise dad’s taste buds from the first sizzling saganaki to the dessert platter with many pit-stops in between. 6. SALONA
A Father’s Day Greek-style Barbeque takes place at Salona on 1 September with many exciting delicacies, including an array of organic meats from Gary’s butcher. The meal is priced at $39. 7. HELLENIC REPUBLIC
