Greek-Australians across the nation are gearing up for the Greek Youth Generator’s (GYG) Greek Youth Summit.
Now don’t let the name of the event fool you, people of all ages are welcome to join in, however convener Dean Kotsianis and the GYG team want to make sure that young people are at the forefront of the event.
“We are yet to see events that showcase young people and their ideas as well as desires and opportunities to engage with their community. We think this idea has merit on a multicultural level more broadly and may even help other communities embrace their younger members. That aside, we feel that we’re making unlikely collaborations and combinations possible,” Mr Kotsianis told Neos Kosmos.
The summit will happen across two days with two separate events at Melbourne’s Greek Centre; the Factory on 28 August offering networking opportunities, a cultural expo and workshops, followed by the community-oriented Shark Tank event on 10 September, and a party to top it all off.
“The value of the Greek Australian community and our multicultural connections more broadly are immense. We want our audience to assemble their own interpretation of it. Here, you have a chance to ‘Get YOUR Greek On’,” Mr Kotsianis said.
“We think, the solutions moving forward in our community will come from unlikely combinations and experimentation.”
While there will be plenty of chances to build your professional network and feed your imagination, attendees will also have the opportunity to score $5,000 to help get a project or business idea up and running during the Shark Tank event.

GYG has the backing of their major sponsor Delphi Bank and has also joined forces with other organisations including the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
