Marrickville is bracing itself for the celebrations to mark the Inner West Council’s official launch of the Little Greece precinct in the Sydney suburb that has long been connected to the Greek community.

The free community celebrations, which require registration, will take place at the Alex Trevallion Plaza, then the Great Club in Marrickville on Saturday, 18 June from 1pm to 4pm.

As part of the celebrations, the unveiling of the commissioned public artwork Hestia’s Migration will take place to mark the heart of Little Greece at the Alex Trevallion Plaza.

Greek music and dancing will feature with MC Alex Lykos, Tassos Bouzouki and the St Nicholas Church Greek Dancing Group providing entertainment.

At 2pm, there will be a procession that will make its way to The Great Club were a free all-ages concert by the Hellenic Art Theatre and Iho Nyx Band. Light refreshments will be served and people under 18 can attend provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult.
