Greek singer Giannis Ploutarchos is slated to perform in Brisbane at the end of the month alongside his children Giorgos Kakosaios and Katerina for the first time.

The Pan-Macedonian Association of Queensland has arranged the tour of the famous singer, holding a series of concerts across Australia with the first scheduled at the The Greek Club in South Brisbane on Friday 30 September.

The day coincides with the celebration of his 25 years in the music industry.

Born in Mavrogeia, just outside Orchomenos, Ploutarchos comes from a family that struggled to make ends meet.

He started singing at the age of six, and ten years later, having decided that he wanted to pursue a singing career, he moved to Athens, under the pretext that he wanted to study hairdressing.

Interestingly, he worked successfully at a hair salon during the day and ended up signing at nightclubs in the evenings, up until his first ever single became a huge commercial success leading to a significant record deal at the time.

He has since collaborated with other noted names from the Greek and international music scene such as Kaiti Garbi, Peggy Zina, Al Bano, Konstantina, Pantelis Pantelidis and many more.

Some of his greatest hits include Afieromeno, Ah Koritsi Mou, To Kalitero Paidi, and Matia Mou.

More locations and dates for Giannis Ploutarchos’ Australian tour are to be announced.
