Pronia offers a number of services for Greek residents of Monash and other culturally and linguistically diverse people in order to improve well-being, health and community engagement and minimise social isolation of vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
Monthly facilitation of iPad sessions for seniors, exercise groups, tours of Clayton Community Centre link isolated Greek residents from local clubs and the community into services. Monthly grand parenting support groups address isolation and provide socialisation opportunities and age-appropriate information and education.
Participation in meetings and networks such as Monash Multicultural and Settlement Services Network strengthen the links between agencies and address gaps in service system.
Highlights for this year have been education on elder abuse prevention, palliative care, domestic and intergenerational violence, Powers of Attorney/Advance Care planning, Centrelink payments and allowances, LINK Health and Community supports, exercise program and well-being including sessions on diabetes, podiatry, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, dietitian and aged care packages.
The next event is titled ‘What is palliative care and what services are offered? Who’s eligible and what supports are there for carers?’ It takes place on Monday, 8 July, from 10.30am-12pm. For more info, please contact Adonis Maglis on 93889998.
