Spring is in full swing, and with it comes a wave of Greek culture across Australia — music, art, film and comedy that will keep communities celebrating all month long.
Starting this weekend in Melbourne with Double Opa! in Brunswick.
Opa Bato!, Australia’s only Trubacki Orkestar will bring the Balkan brass, while Estudiantina of Melbourne weaves Greek, Turkish, Jewish and Armenian traditions with oud, bouzouki and violin for a one-night-only musical journey.
Next week on 4 October, Olympus makes its long-awaited Melbourne debut at Bond Nightclub. The launch party will be headlined by Greek superstar FY in what promises to be one of the city’s wildest Greek nights.
Sydney’s Greek Film Festival adds a special event with Sydney Silver Screen on Tuesday 21 October at Steki Taverna. Hosted by Ouzo Talk, the night brings together filmmakers Alex Lykos, Peter Andrikidis, Billy Cotsis and Kay Pavlou for a conversation about creativity, storytelling and the Greek-Australian experience.
This is part of the 30th Greek Film Festival running from 14-26 October. Screenings and events are taking place across the country.
The festival is a featured event of our Greek Guide, which you can visit on our site for more information about events, times and bookings.

In Adelaide, the Odyssey Festival begins with its official opening next Friday. Traditional dance, vibrant artwork and the announcement of this year’s Art Prize winners will mark the start of the festival’s 18th edition.
In Brisbane, A Window for Light: Mikis Theodorakis as I Heard it From My Father takes the stage on Saturday 11 October. Vocalist Katerini Manolatos, pianist Dr Sean Foran and the Ellinikes Fones Choir lead a heartfelt tribute to the legendary composer, exploring themes of migration, resilience and memory through his beloved works.
And for comedy lovers, Greek-American comedian Basile returns to Australia with his show Yiayia Don’t Play. Known for his rapid-fire wit and larger-than-life characters, Basile will tour nationally throughout October with stops in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide.
