The 45-year-old Greek American star was expected to be up for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role category.

Aniston, though, had admitted just a few hours prior to the announcement, while at the Cake premiere, that she was hoping to be asleep with her beloved and co. and miss the announcement.

“I’ll be in bed with my beloved and my dogs dreaming wild little dreams … I’m not going to torture myself. My phone rang yesterday at five o’clock in the morning and I was like, ‘What’s happening? Who’s dead? Is today Thursday?’.”

Lucky for her, since she didn’t receive an Oscar nod, even though she was one of 2015’s most buzzed-about awards contenders.

Amy Adams was also snubbed by the Academy, as were Angelina Jolie and Jessica Chastain.

If Aniston was nervous about her Oscar chances on Wednesday night, it didn’t show on the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of Cake, where she expressed her feelings about working on the film.

“Honestly, I mean the fact that any of this has happened is kind of just so unexpected,” she said. “We’re just all in awe of the whole thing. What’s happened so far is incredible. I can’t even process.”

Even though the star was nominated for Best Actress at the Golden Globes, she lost the prize to Amy Adams.
