Directed by internationally acclaimed soprano Stella Axarlis AM and led by Italian maestro Gaetano Colajanni, CitiOpera’s Otello will bring to life Verdi’s majestic score and Arrigo Boito’s dramatic libretto.
CitiOpera, Melbourne’s premier performance company for new and emerging talent, is celebrating its rebranding with four performances of Otello beginning March 28.
Based on Shakespeare’s play Othello, the Verdi operatic version will showcase upcoming opera talent in Victoria. The CitiOpera performance of Otello is set to wow audiences as it opens with the scene of a dramatic storm at sea, and unfolds with palpating scenes of jealousy, arrogance and rage, as a military hero begins to unravel.
