All lovers of great tasting lamb are invited to attend the Lamb Festival events, where local chefs add their gourmet touch to your plate during three days of lamb appreciation coinciding with the Australian Sheep & Wool Show in the Bendigo CBD.

Several Bendigo schools will be taking part in a wholefood-based healthy eating program and the students will be educated on how to make the best use of lamb.

Informational classes and cooking demonstrations will be available for both farmers and the general public about lamb carving, cuts demonstrations and preparation.

The ‘Bob the Butcher’ feature of the festival involves acclaimed chefs providing a diverse range of cooking masterclasses as well as culinary business economics throughout the show.

This year, the show has joined with local food promotion group Food Fossickers, to highlight the best regional produce and educate the public about the journey from paddock to plate.

Food Fossickers is a membership-based network that works to inform people about where their food comes from and share stories about who helped to put it on the table. Masons of Bendigo will also be holding a cooking demonstration.

The event is suitable for families as well, even offering a Kids Cooking Challenge and a Kitchen Garden Program.

The network involves all food and beverage growers, producers and distributors, as well as the retailers and food outlets in order to build an independent supply chain for regional producers.
