Artists, dancers and creative types are being asked to submit ideas and become a part of the Big West Festival in 2015.

The community based contemporary arts and culture festival will be in its 17th year and will be celebrating the theme The Inner and Outer World of the House.

They are looking for multilingual and multicultural acts, that are “spirited, unusual, fun, political, and collaborative” and are open to suggestions.

To be eligible you must live or work in Melbourne’s Western suburbs, submit never before performed or exhibited work and should be able to be performed in any location and setting. The closing date for submissions is October 30 2014.

Successful projects will receive financial assistance towards artists’ fees.

The biennial event runs for 12 days in November and is the biggest community-based arts and culture festival in the western region of Melbourne.

It’s aim is to challenge perceptions of the west as culturally impoverished by highlighting the rich diversity of local area and give local artists a platform.

The festival is also looking for volunteers to fill usher, production crew and other roles for the November and December events.
