Recent statistics released by Greek police authorities have revealed that between the years 2011 and 2015 there were 27,103 protests and rallies in the Greek capital.

According to a report by Kathimerini, demonstrations reached their peak in 2013, during which 6,231 were recorded in Athens.

The majority, however, were only sparsely attended; those attended by more than 1,000 people in 2012 were 61, 72 in 2013, falling to 58 in 2014 and increasing to 72 in 2015.

The data also showed that during this period, Greek police supplied a total of 702,443 officers to be present during protests.
