Nassos Vakalis’ multi-award-winning Greek film Dinner For Few was be screened at the NuArt Theatre in LA, from January 9 to 11 and got rave reviews.

Dinner for Few is a short animated film taking on the effects of the Greek crisis. The no dialogue film is flirting with a qualification for the 2016 Academy Awards.

Vakalis, who is an Emmy-winning Greek-American animator for DreamWorks Studios, refers to it as a “sociopolitical metaphor of the world”.

A phone conversation with a friend, in which they “compared the people [suffering in Greece] with the cats at a taverna, wondering when they will stop asking for scraps and start jumping on the table to claim whatever is left and eat it”, instigated the idea of the film.

The film will also be screened in Australia, later in 2015.
