A doctor working at a medical centre on an Aegean island has been arrested after asking for cash from patients in order to issue them with health certificates.

Police were notified about the doctor’s activities and set up an undercover operation in order to catch him red-handed.

Two policemen visited the medical centre pretending to be patients and, in both cases, asked him for a health certificate.

The doctor was arrested after he took a marked 20-euro note from each of the officers.
