Dozens of tourists have been stranded on Corfu after storms caused Ryanair to cancel two flights, to Oslo and Manchester, on Sunday, while the airline does not have other flights scheduled until this weekend.

“Affected customers have been provided with overnight hotel accommodation and refreshment vouchers during this delay, in full compliance with EU261 legislation,” said a Ryanair spokesperson.

“We are examining the feasibility of scheduling additional flights and will contact customers once confirmed, while customers also have the option to transfer onto other available flights from other Ryanair airports free of charge.”

The British Foreign Office said that it is providing consulate assistance to the 40 British holidaymakers stuck on the Ionian island.
