After a whirlwind tour in Australia, Greek pop singer Eleftheria Eleftheriou is back in Athens shooting her first film clip to her single Teliosame.
The single, now available on iTunes, is from her forthcoming debut album to be released this month.
Born in Cyprus, Eleftheria Eleftheriou always had a passion for music, and as a child her only dream was to become a singer.
At school, she took piano and music theory lessons and by the age of 16, she became a soloist in the national folk orchestra of RIK broadcasting corporation, in Cyprus. She participated in various music contests. When she graduated from high school, she started Music and Performance studies at the University of Surrey in London.
Her popularity came following her appearance on X-Factor 2 in 2010 where – although she was not the winner – she made a great impression on everyone. Right after the show, she collaborated with Sakis Rouvas, singing with him in his live performances. The same year she started singing with one of the famous Greek singers, Nikos Vertis. Together they also toured abroad in Europe and Australia. In 2010 she released her first personal single Tables are Turning, while in April 2011, she did the vocals in the huge hit single of duo Housetwins, Never.
In March 2012, she became the winner of the Greek Final 2012 for the Eurovision Song Contest and represented Greece with the song Aphrodisiac, composed and written by Dimitri Stassos, Mikaela Stenström and Dajana Lööf, in Baku, Azerbaijan. With the song, she got into the first semifinal, coming fourth with 156 points (third in the jury vote and fifth in the televoting). In the final she finished 17th with 64 points.
