Greek metal band Firewind has secured Australian tour dates and will be coming Down Under in October.

The band were previously locked in to tour in April but had to cancel after problems with the promoter.

This is the first time the veteran metal band is touring our shores and it has been a long time dream of the band.

Lead guitarist Gus G says the pilgrimage to Australia will be a chance for the band to visit friends.

“I actually have some family friends in Melbourne,” he said in an interview for musicfeed.com.

“We all have someone there it seems. I’ve never been to Australia and I really want to go – it’s one of my as-yet-unfulfilled dreams.”

In 15 years, the band has released seven studio albums and are known for their high octane performances.

Lead guitarist Gus G has played for Ozzy Osbourne, Dream Evil and Nightrage.

The band will start their tour in Sydney, playing at Manning Bar on October 31, then to Brisbane at The Hi Fi on November 1, Adelaide at Fowlers Live on November 2 and finish up in Melbourne on November 3 at the Corner Hotel.
