On Saturday 19 August, barrister Nola Karapanagiotidis expanded on issues surrounding asylum seekers at an event supported by the inclusive Greek Australian women's Food For Thought Network (FFTN), providing an opportunity to learn more in a safe space.

During the open discussion moderated by committee member Triada Papadimitriou, Ms Karapanagiotides who practises in criminal law, human rights and refugee law, touched on the human impact of government decisions in the most revealing manner.

Hearing stories of asylum seekers seeking to make Australia home provided much to reflect on, offering information on simple steps we can take to provide some assistance – be it directly to the Asylum Seekers Resources Centre (ASRC) or to other similar organisations.

Ms Karapanagiotidis has volunteered with the ASRC for over 13 years letting her passion as an advocate for social justice shine through as she spoke of her work.

All the proceeds from the event will be donated to the ASRC.

More information about the ASRC can be found here. To find out more about Food for Thought Network, visit their website or email the chair Varvara Ioannou at varvara@fftn.org.au
