Former AEK player, Nathan Burns might have had a number of offers during the transfer window, but has said he’s “quite happy” sticking with Wellington Phenix for now.

“There’s definitely been offers, but for a deal to go through a lot of parties have to be happy with it,” the 26-year-old said.

“I’m just focusing on being here at Wellington at the moment.

“I’m quite happy here.”

But the league’s golden boot leader admits a move abroad remains an ambition.

“That’s my goal to maybe go back overseas. In football there’s no limit, so you should always want to go somewhere bigger and better and push yourself,” he said.

“You should never be happy with where you’re at.”

Burns has had stints at AEK Athens from 2008 to 2012, completing a year in between on loan to Kerkyra and then moved to K-League club Incheon United. He says he would relish a return to either continent.

“I’d love to go back to Europe. Asia is a powerhouse at the moment so there’s definitely a lot of options out there.”
