Around 150 runners helped raise more than $4,000 to help Father Themis’ Orthodox Mission in Sierra Leone as part of the AHEPA Youth Path to Paradise Fun Run last week.

The event was sectioned into two divisions, with a 3.2 km walk and 6.4 km run, and saw both young and old attempt the Carlton Gardens circuit.

AHEPA Youth’s own treasurer Ross Katsambanis took out first prize in the 3.2 km run, Peter Patisteas took out the 3.2 run division and Aristidis Dollas came first in the 6.4 km run.

AHEPA Youth members also put on a sausage sizzle and bake sale at the finish line which helped them reach the final fundraising total of $4,100.

The overall funds raised for Father Themis’ mission over three years is now at $18,246.

AHEPA Youth president Anthea Tsaousis says $10,000 will go to the development of 3D printing of prosthetic limbs for the Mission’s amputees, and $8,246 will go to Ebola virus relief.
