The Member for Reid, Craig Laundy MP was pleased to announce today that a re-elected Turnbull Government will contribute $300,000 towards works required to the church of St Nectarios in Burwood.

The church building, which was constructed in 1879, requires building works to be undertaken to ensure that this important piece of local heritage is carefully maintained and to guarantee that the building continues to serve the needs of the parish community long into the future.

Mr Laundy said the Government’s investment in St Nectarios will help the parish community continue to undertake their magnificent work throughout Sydney’s inner west.

“Our local Greek Australian community is an outstanding example of all that is great about multicultural Australia, and there is no better example of the Greek Australian community than the members of the Parish of St Nectarios,” he said.

“Father George Liangas and his team are continually giving to our community and I am delighted to be able to recognise their important work with this proposed federal government support. I know that Greek Australians throughout our electorate will welcome this announcement.”
