Independent senator Nick Xenophon wants the census to be delayed due to all the confusion and distress experienced by elderly Australians who are unable to obtain paper forms.

Meanwhile, Chris Libreri, the general manager of the census and statistical network services division defends the digital transition although he admit there have been over 400,000 applications for paper forms already.

The Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM), however, has offered to provide assistance to those who need help with completing the Census online on 9 August 2016.

Anyone who does not have access to the internet, or needs assistance in completing the Census, can bring the notification letter they received with the 12-digit Census Login number to GCM’s office (Level 3, 168 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne), where GCM representatives will help them to complete it online.

The GCM would like to emphasise the significance of the 2016 Census and stresses the need for everyone to complete it.
