The popular lecture series hosted by the Greek community of Melbourne and Victoria (GOCMV) is back again, and this time a historical lecutre will start proceedings.

Program director for social sciences at Swinburne Online Learning in Melbourne, Dr Angelo Rodafinos will be giving the first lecture of the year, touching on ancient Greek philosophy and psychology.

He hopes to relate the lessons from Greek wisdom to current psychological treatment models (e.g., Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and provide ideas and specific examples to help participants make small changes in order to reduce stress and anger and improve their everyday lives.

A prolific academic writer, his first book “Princes to frogs… and vice versa! Applied psychological techniques for the accomplishment of changes in our lives” (in Greek) has become a popular reading guide for people from all ages and backgrounds for more than a decade.

His second book “The Idiots are invincible” (in Greek, recently translated in English and Bulgarian) deals with stress and problem solving.

The lecture will be held on Thursday 26 February at the mezzanine level of the Greek Centre of Contemporary Culture, 168 Lonsdale Street.
