The national soccer team has had a particularly smooth draw for the qualifying round of Euro 2016, as it will face teams ranked far lower than Greece in the FIFA ranking.

The draw that took place on Sunday has pitted Greece with Hungary (FIFA world ranking: 44), Romania (33), Finland (65), Northern Ireland (85) and the Faroe Islands (172).

“Not so good, not so bad,” Greece coach Fernando Santos mused on the draw.

“All teams are dangerous,” he later back-tracked.

The top two of each group and the best third-placed team advance directly to the finals to be held in France, while the other third-placed teams from the nine groups will face a play-off.

As of the next European Championship the finals will consist of 24 teams, having been expanded from the 16-team format that was used since 1996.

The first round of games will be on September 7-9, 2014.

The championship will be held in France in 2016, and will go from 10 June to 10 July. Back-to-back defending champions Spain are expecting an easy ride to the finals, as they drew Ukraine (18), Slovakia (54), Belarus (84), FYROM (83) and Luxembourg (120).
