Greece has claimed the INSP Trophy at this year’s Homeless World Cup in the Netherlands, with a decisive 6-2 victory over Switzerland.

Participating in only its second Homeless World Cup and led by coach Christos Alefantis – editor of the street newspaper Shedia – the Greeks claimed the trophy at Amsterdam’s Museumplein.

Following the victory, captain Nikolaos Petropoulos couldn’t contain his excitement.

“I still can’t believe it, it doesn’t seem real,” he said. “I’m so happy for myself and the whole team. This is a once-in-a-lifetime feeling.”

The INSP Cup is the sixth level trophy for competing men’s teams at the Homeless World Cup and is named for the International Network of Street Papers.
