Even though the ends of 2017 saw Greece show the biggest decline in general population unemployment in the European Union dropping from from 23.3 per cent to 20.7, it still remains the highest.
According to the latest Eurostat data released on Wednesday in Brussels, Greek unemployment still sits at the top of the EU executive’s statistics agency list.
Meanwhile, youth unemployment went up to 40.8 per cent in Greece in October from a 40.3 per cent in September, totalling 990,000 registered unemployed people below the age of 35.
At 20.8 per cent in September 2017 Greece has almost triple the amount of unemployment compared to the general 8.7 per cent recorded within the Eurozone in December 2017 and the 7.3 percent in the EU.
