Forbes released its list of the world’s 50 most valuable sporting teams. Topping the list were European giants Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United.

The list featured prominent European teams, known for the most part on a footballing landscape, along with American football and baseball teams.

The San Diego Chargers, majority-owned by the Spanos family, came in at number 41 on the list. Its owner, Alexander Spanos, born in 1923, is a second generation Greek American and the founder of A.G. Spanos companies. According to Forbes, Spanos has a net worth of US$1.1 billion.

Other European based teams to feature on the list include Bayern Munich (#7), Arsenal (#16), Ferrari (#21), Chelsea (#48), Manchester City (#49) and AC Milan (#50).
