Officers from the police’s narcotics unit and the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) are questioning four suspected members of a drug ring believed to have transported hundreds of kilos of cannabis from Albania to Western Europe.

Police arrested a 40-year-old Albanian, believed to be the ringleader, a 45-year-old Cypriot, a 44-year-old Greek and a 49-year-old who owns a vineyard near Corinth, also a Greek.

The vineyard is believed to have been used by the ring to stash deliveries of cannabis from Albania before packaging the drug for export.

In February an inspection on two trucks in the German city of Kassel turned up 600 kilograms of cannabis concealed in wine containers.
