Greek sailors dominated the World Tornado Championship in France once again over the weekend, as they won the first as well as the third position in the final table.

For the fifth year in a row Costas Trigonis and Iordanis Paschalidis finished first in the championship held at Carnac, northwest France.

“Even we did not expect to lead the championship,” said Trigonis. “This was my fifth Tornado World title and my 19th, including world and European ones both in Tornado and 470 class. I will try to go on sailing till I get the blackjack – 21 trophies!”

Paschalidis added: “After this victory, it is a challenge for us to win the cup six times in a row and beat the record that Darren Bundock and John Forbes have.”

Having led after the first day, Nikolaos Mavros and Alexandros Tagaropoulos eventually finished third.
