The Hawthorn Spartans celebrated their premiership win and going undefeated this year with a Best and Fairest function last Friday night at Melbourne’s Greek venue, Kinisi in Richmond.

With over 120 people attending, the night was filled with great food and drink, entertainment and of course the counting of votes for the Spartans’ Best and Fairest Award.

Andrew Stavridis polled 130 votes to win the award, with runner-up Con Terzoglou on 122 and John Farah third on 113. Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the club was Anthony Demetriou, while Tom Beech and Nick Papaconstantinou tied for the best first-year player distinction. The overall Excellence Award went to Tim Demetriou.

A number of volunteers were also honoured for their work during the year, and some sponsors were presented with certificates and a memorable picture collage – a reminder of a great year and a token of appreciation for their support.

The coaching staff were also acknowledged for their efforts throughout the year: Coach Con Terzoglou, Director of Football Phiv Demetriou, Assistant Coaches Chris Armatas and Terry Salipas and General Manager George Demetriou.

George Demetriou thanked major sponsors M2K Communications, Dia Ora Jewellers, Dephi Bank and media partner Neos Kosmos.
